I am hopeful for a particular stock to rise into the middle of March when it goes ex-dividend. I have often seen the general pattern of stocks rising into March timeframe then weakening thereafter. I have attributed this to the desire but numerous taxpayers requirement to raise cash ahead of the annual April 15ish deadline for IRS taxes to be paid. There must be some aggregate affect there but I have never seen anything that discusses this in detail.
