I explained to her that it was necessary first to repeat in her laboratory the experiment of the other person–to do it under condition X to see if she could also get result A, and then change to Y and see if A changed. Then she would know the the real difference was the thing she thought she had under control.




We're doing that. Condition X is pre-industrial CO2, and A is the temperature. Condition Y is current CO2, and A has changed. It's really a pity we don't have another planet so that we can repeat the experiment with either no CO2, or twice as much, but that's the way it goes; earth-like planets are hard to come by.
