I'm not sure about Einstein as I don't know his take on the Scientific Method. I do know what Feynman thought about it, and what the so-called "climate scientists" are doing today would not pass muster. It just wouldn't.

Feynman almost assuredly would be in the Freeman Dysan camp today. Unlike so many other theoretical physicists, these two were deeply serious about experimental physics as well as the theoretical realm.

I believe Feynman was a different kind of scientist with an extremely open-minded take on the physical world. He certainly would have have considered the theoretical basis of it early and believed it was at least good theory. But the evidence is not good and he would have recognized it.
