Dr. Mildred Jefferson (1927-2010) is the first African American woman to graduate from Harvard Medical School. She was very influential in the Republican party and she unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for Senate several times. Dr. Jefferson is credited with Ronald Reagan becoming pro-life. She speaks with the authority of a doctor, a woman, and a black woman.
