I wouldn't go so easy on Hillary. She basically gave up the fight for single payer universal healthcare. I want a candidate who shows resiliency and determination. The American people - if we can believe the polls - want single payer universal healthcare. So, why did Hillary give up the fight? Too much opposition from the insurance companies? I don't buy into that. On the take? That's my read.

Hillary is the typical mainstream politician who stands for one thing at one time and another thing at another time. That is to say, she has no principles or values. That's partly why she lost. Same with foreign policy. She supported the Sandinistas in El Salvador against US forces in the 80s and then went back to being a Super Hawk from her Goldwater Girl days. She changes her positions like a swing trader. That's fine (in certain circumstances) when it comes to the stock market, but a recipe for defeat in a Presidential Election.

Great post... but I would add to your ... Even a left wing candidate won't matter unless there is widespread reform of our national priorities. I still submit they (your parties) are not ideological but rather tribal.. and therein lies the problem IMO.. It is interesting that like you US folk we have the three branches of government but our PM is really part of the legislative branch... Our Governor General (representing the monarch) is the executive.. and essentially a traditional position with no real power.. we really roll on just two wheels so I guess we need to stay balanced :)) Maybe you guys just need get rid of the training wheel.. I mean you fought a war to dump the king anyway :))

Electorate had no viable left wing candidate... (I know I know Green... but I said viable :))
