Let's review some of the major contracts and alliances in the last 6-7 months -
there are so many good ones that I can only list the MOST significant.
Put these all together (with everything else) and what picture do you get?
I've omitted DSLTNT and other big items too.

Now you know why ASND mgt is so comfortable predicting a 10% growth
over a year out, amidst this Asia backdrop - it's got to be "in the bag".

1) Datacraft - China/Asia (06/97)

The original announcement was never posted - predates News Only.
From today's newsitem from WORLDSOURCES ONLINE, INC.

Ascend's revenues from South Asia is projected to grow by about
20 per cent. ''The highest revenue growth for Ascend is still China,''
said Gustafson. He said China's Ministry of Post and Telecommunication
has begun to implement a nationwide frame relay backbone utilising Ascend
core switching technology, including the B-STDX 9000 and CBX 500
products, which is being deployed in approximately 25 provincial
telecom authorities (PTAs).

Additionally, 12 PTAs in China either have implemented or are
now implementing Ascend remote access equipment for on-line
services and Internet access.

Gustafson said Ascend's goal for the coming year is to compete
in all carrier data networking opportunities in Asia, as the
company now claims to have end-to-end solutions in network access
(dialup, integrated services digital network, digital subscriber
line, and frame relay), exchange, peering and edge switching
(Internet protocol, frame relay, and Asynchronous Transfer Mode) as
well as core switching (ATM, and frame relay).

2) NTT (09/97 post #9230)

We believe that part of the future strength of ASND's Japanese sales will be
the contribution made by NTT. It appears that NTT has selected Ascend as
the sole source provider of frame relay and ATM backbone equipment to
support NTT's rapidly growing Internet access and transport services.
While details are just emerging out of different sources, and at this time, it is
impossible to place a dollar value on this contract, we believe that the long
term opportunity for Ascend is substantial. We believe that this will likely be
the largest frame relay and/or ATM equipment contract that either Ascend
or the former Cascade has ever signed.

3) UUNET (09/97 Post #151)

UUNET will be purchasing over 170,000 MAX TNT WAN Access Switches
by the end of 1997, increasing its total dial network capacity to more than
370,000 dial access ports. Additionally, UUNET has made the decision to
deploy the Ascend GRF IP Switch in its network, further increasing the capacity
and reliability of its Internet infrastructure. This latest network expansion further
solidifies UUNET's position as the preeminent provider of Internet services globally,
with over 1,000 Points of Presence (POPs) throughout the world.

4) AGIS ( 10/97 #308)

Ascend Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ASND) today announced that Dearborn,
Mich.-based Apex Global Internet Services, Inc., (AGIS) the fourth largest provider

These COO-Location facilities, or regional mega-POPs, are the infrastructure for AGIS'
newest business initiative, AGIS InterDial, a wholesale dial access service. The company's
goal is to deploy 100,000 ports across the U.S. by June 1998.

tell yet.
