The missing software drivers turned out to be for intel chipsets relating to hard drive controllers. Easily updated through the HP site. Although their malfunction made no difference to current basic use and benchmark scores, it's easier to fix that now to eliminate a potential future problem. Time will tell. I installed the video card and it works so far! Here is the before and after pic, of inside to date.
