Boy, that study was pretty poor.

the center counted 259 justifiable gun-related homicides, or incidents in which authorities ruled that killings occurred in self-defense.

Over the course of a year, I post more examples to you than that.

You're in luck, I have four more coming up.

Another thing wrong is that not all defensive gun uses involve homicides.

Neighbor Steps in, Shoots Man About to Assault Woman With This

Posted at 6:30 am on February 24, 2017 by Jenn Jacques

Like a good neighbor, help is right here!

A helpful armed neighbor was able to step in when a domestic dispute got physical in the west-central valley outside Las Vegas, NV. Monday night shortly after 11 p.m. in the 5900 block of Fawn Avenue.

A man and a woman were arguing on the sidewalk outside a home near West Washington Avenue and North Jones Boulevard before the man began fighting her, Metropolitan Police Department Lt. CJ Jenkins said. The neighbor heard the fight, went outside, saw the man pick up a brick and raise it as if to hit the woman, he said.

The armed neighbor drew his weapon, took aim, and dropped the man before he could beat the woman with the brick.

“The citizen’s actions prevented the female from being struck,” Jenkins said.

The abusive suspect was transported to University Medical Center where he is expected to survive from the gunshot wound.

Jenkins said the neighbor will not face any charges stemming from the incident.

Armed Texas Jogger Shoots Would-Be Armed Robber in the Groin

Posted at 11:33 am on February 23, 2017 by Jenn Jacques

An armed robber in Arlington, TX was put out of commission when he caught up to a health nut jogging to the gym for his morning workout on Wednesday. But when he caught up with him, the runner gave him a workout he’ll never forget!

According to Arlington police, an unidentified man was jogging to the gym Wednesday when he noticed a truck following him in the 6000 block of Poly Webb Road, near Interstate-20.

Reports say a juvenile passenger got out of the truck brandished a gun and demanded money from the jogger. The jogger, who was also armed, resisted, pulled his weapon and fired several times. Bullets hit the suspect in the groin area. The injured suspect ran back to the truck and quickly left the scene.

Police quickly found the truck abandoned near Cedar Cove Court and Lindberg Drive. Investigators say the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Arlington on February 16.

Arlington police received tips that the suspect had gotten out of the truck and into an SUV, which they located and stopped at the intersection of Poly Webb Road and Little Road. The SUV was being driven by a woman with the suspect in the passenger seat – who immediately gave up and told cops “I’ve been shot.”

Nice shooting, Tex – love that this health nut knows being healthy means taking care of your body and your personal protection.

The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of his gunshot wound and the original robbery victim was shaken up, but not seriously injured in the incident.

Arlington police said they view the shooting as a clear case of self-defense but the incident is still under investigation.

Armed Good Samaritan Saves the Life of Indiana Conservation Officer

Posted at 10:35 am on February 23, 2017 by Jenn Jacques

An Indiana woman is a hero after she stepped in to save the life of a state Conservation Officer.

The incident happened Monday in Southeastern Indiana when the officer was responding to a call of a suspicious person at approximately 12:30 PM in the 8300 block of State Road 56, just west of Rising Sun, Indiana.

After the officer approached 25-year-old Justin Holland, of Moores Hill, Indiana, near a vehicle on the highway, police said that the two began fighting. An unidentified woman at a nearby home came to the scene to help the officer, who was “being overtaken by Holland,” the release said.

The woman fired once from her personally owned gun, striking Holland in the torso, the release said. He was given first aid by witnesses and transported to Dearborn County Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The officer was injured and transported to the Dearborn County Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is still under investigation and the identity of both the good samaritan and the officer are being withheld by authorities at this time.

Sure hope this woman gets the recognition she both earned and deserves for saving the officer’s life!

Florida Homeowner’s Son Shoots Two Armed Intruders, Saves Mother

Posted at 10:20 am on February 23, 2017 by Jenn Jacques

When armed intruders put a gun to the homeowner’s head, her son was able to successfully defend her life.

Police say the residence in the Pine Hills neighborhood of Orange County, Florida was the scene of a terrifying home invasion Tuesday morning, but thanks to the quick thinking and accurate shooting skills of the homeowner’s son, two violent criminals are off the streets.

Two men in their early 20s broke into a home on Perrine Drive shortly after 10:45 a.m. and pointed a gun at the homeowner’s head while making demands, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Jane Watrel said.

“One of them held a gun to her hear and made demands. I don’t know what those demands are,” said Watrel.

But the homeowner’s son was in the house at the time and was able to make it to a back bedroom to retrieve a firearm. He then swiftly and accurately shot both of the intruders, saving his mother’s life.

Investigators said the body of one of the intruders, later identified as 24-year-old Racheed Briggs, was found lying in the front yard of the home, but the other man was able to make it to Winter Park Memorial Hospital.

It’s unknown if the wounded man drove himself to the hospital or if someone took him there, Watrel said. He had to be transferred to Orlando Regional Medical Center because of the severity of his injuries.

“I’m shocked at what’s going on because the people don’t bother nobody. So it’s just surprising that somebody would just do that to them,” said Victoria Escontris, a friend of the victim.

Authorities are still investigating the home invasion and no charges have been filed against the homeowner or her son at this time.
