Interesting point re collateral material. However, the brittleness of their technology (as you aptly describe it) along with their business model (planned obsolescence to encourage upgrade sales, along with the introduction of incompatibilities to foil potential competitors) leads to frequent redesign and gratuitous change which destroy much of the usefulness of that collateral material.

JMHO, of course.

I agree with most of what you stated and perhaps that is why MSFT is not my number 1 core holding! However, nevertheless, from an investment point of view I can not simply ignore Microsoft if I am investing my money in the new computing model created by Sun (based on the reasons I stated which you disagree)!

Anyway, may the Sun continue shining its warmth and light upon all of us!
