[FTEL - skip for xDSL fans] Pat, Looking at the company pages, I not sure its 8x8 counterpart, but my general impression was they sell hardware. This hardware goes into to a local ISP's hub. The hardware converts voice Analog to Digitial and vise versa. Therefore, if another hub is located in another city's ISP pop - via this gateway you can talk to other person. By your normal anlong phone. Quality? But to the ISP its just another Internet connection - they can act like telephone company. I don't know. But i think this stock trades on OTC-BB so it could be dangerous
