I'm sorry, but I have limited knowledge about which of n-Vision's competitors are publicly held companies. I tried the yahoo stock symbol search for Kaiser Electro-Optics and found nothing. However, being a defense contractor, Kaiser could be a division of another publicly held company, e.g., Bell Helicopter has no stock in its name. However, Textron, which owns Bell and many other entities, does have stock.

There is a very interesting competitor called Microvision. They have patented Virtual Retinal Display (VRD)technology. As you might already know, most current HMDs are based on either less expensive LCD displays or as in n-Vision's case, miniature CRTs. Microvision is publicly held and their stock symbol is "mvis". Their most recent news indicates they have won a $4M contract with the US Army to develop an HMD system for use in the developmental Comanche Helicopter. For more info. go to mvis.com

Here's an interesting press release about DisneyQuest from October'97.
Note that it indicates "Future Sites: 20-30 worldwide in major markets." If n-Vision's first Viewport production contract is for $1.25M to support one site (Orlando), the income potential for 20-30 sites appears to be relatively substantial. biz.yahoo.com
