Italy is a cesspool, I'll second that. Uncared for much like Mexico.

You mention Switzerland. (Suisse) Drive in from Geneva or land in Zurich ? It' all a beautiful country I prefer the Canton of Valais. Mountainous, & breath taking. Through Lausanne, Sion and up the hill to Lens, Chermignon and the ski slopes of of Crans Montana.
A lot of visitors miss these smaller places and the real people, in favor of more publicized touristy spots. For me I like to see the average every day lifestyle of the people.

Switzerland is expensive but well worth spending some time. For a country about 240 miles long by 60 miles wide with 7 or 8 million people it has so much to offer.

Some excellent home wines by residents of surrounding villages at any gathering. Seems everyone has a home wine cave and loves to share their expertise along with sample cheeses or Raclette. Very friendly folk but financially wise. You can almost hear the cash counter ringing in the voices of most swiss people. Shrewd to say the least.

Cordonier / Lamon winery, Flanthey Produces about 25,000 liters a year, good quality wine. But I doubt the product ever gets out of the country. Shipped a case home. Nice to taste and share now and then.
