Exactly, right now all of this artificial intelligence and smart devices are very sexy. But it will never go beyond a certain point before the brakes are put on in a major way. Like when a school bus full of kids turns in to oncoming traffic because a smart device aiding the driver malfunctioned. These kind of scenarios can be played out all day, all year, etc. etc. AI and smart devices have a place in our world, but the people that are leaning towards these things playing an even larger role will be found to be wrong IMO.
