Not everyone seeks out Kremlin supported websites as a primary source of news.

The Moscow Times is not a financially oriented publication, but it can be a valuable check on Putin's newsfeed if you continue reading Zerohedge.

After scanning the local news/weather, I always check Google News and Science Daily for interesting headline stories.

I also like to check the day's featured article at Wikipedia. Yesterday it was about some ancient gold trinkets found in a field in the middle of England. So I popped in for a visit (via Google Street View) and found some scenic rocky hiking hills called the Roaches, and a quaint village pub called the Lazy Trout. Doesn't everyone use the net like this? ;)

Leekfrith torcs
en.wikipedia.org

"This unique find is of international importance ... . It dates to around 400–250 BCE and is probably the earliest Iron Age gold work ever discovered in Britain. The torcs were probably worn by wealthy and powerful women, perhaps people from the Continent who had married into the local community. Piecing together how these objects came to be carefully buried in a Staffordshire field will give us an invaluable insight into life in Iron Age Britain."
