I would like to see Sessions offer some clarity on this point. Without that it appears as a cover up at best and guilty of lying at worst.

Cruz appeared later on Morning Joe and gave the argument that senators meet with foreign ambassadors all the time, supporting Sessions's explanation that he did it as part of his committee responsibility. Cruz twice called a nothing-burger. Cruz was repeatedly asked, if they do it all the time, had he, and which other committee members had done so and apparently, well, they don't do it all the time. Cruz continued to stay on message. It was obvious that no one there was buying it.
