You realize directional drilling and hydraulic fracturing has actually reduced the cost of production?

Furthermore, you should realize solar power and wind power are also dependent on things dug out of the ground. You use the word depletion but that word applies to everything that comes out of the ground.

Now I know you'll say but we can recycle the materials used in solar and wind power and that's true in theory. But not in practice. 100% recylibility is an ideal which doesn't happen. And in fact we have a lot more hydrocarbons on earth than we have lithium, rare earths, etc.
