I've often thought a telco could buy AOL since they would own the lines and could cut costs that way. Problem is there is no national telco providing local service. Even if there was, the deal would be dilutive to earnings. Telco's trade at a low P/E while AOL trades at a high P/E. Also, why would so many Form 144's be filed recently if AOL were on the verge of a takeover?
