Right on.>> Hey Lawrence, you are right there my friend. Novell as an Internet Play??? Where are you Marv...YES!! TCP/IP has uncorked something we all have grown accustomed to on TV and Cable - a dumb/brain dead audio, video, character broadcast - and unleashed it into a revolutionary new digital medium - the internet - that offers interactivity, client control, unlimited choice, unlimited content, all the time, anywhere, everywhere, all the time. Ok, we all know this.... ALL companies are being forced to plug into this new medium and the limitations of Microsoft's OS will become more and more apparent to everyone that they've really miss the mark on bandwidth at the NOS level. I, too, am hearing more and more horror stories about NT crashes, failures in security, etc. These shortcomings make TCP/IP a joke for the shortage of bandwidth - at the local and Global network level - is the only thing that breaks down this new paradigm. But as a OS local data highway NT is just not cut out for extreme loads required for the job. Schmidt's/Novell's Open Solutions approach is not pie in the sky. he's doing all the right things to make Novell the greatest bandwidth play on the planet. Novell's support of Java makes them a pure "open" play on bandwidth. It's not just the Internet anymore. Thanks to Worldcom, Quest, Nextlink and other pioneers, real work is being done to make bandwidth available to everyone. IMHO, Microsoft has overreached. Too many hands in too many pots. A breakdown of focus as they try to blantenly strongarm their way into dozens of businesses through the back door provided by their soon to be closing monopoly on the OS market. More and more of these back doors are being discovered right and left as an increasing number of companies step forward to share their Microsoft stories. Over the coming year we will see MS fighting with DOJ more and more. Thier reputation will suffer. Odds are high they'll be broken into two companies that serve two markets - OS and a software application company. Novell is solid and their reputation can only grow from here on out. ing a huge new demand on bandwidth and OS's that can "run anywhere" - Java. Microsoft's OS is fraught with so many glitches that as this bandwidth thirst grows more and more companies will be looking to other OS platforms - digital highways so to speak - that can accomodate the increased load. Novell is right there right now! Netware 5.0 will be the fastest OS digital highway on the planet. Already, Netware is king in security, speed and with NDS kicking a lot of ass out there we should add the words efficiency and convenience.
