In the Death Panel dept

My Mom has COPD, is 89 and mentally fit. Got pneumonia and went to the hospital. They had her jacked up to 40+ liters of Oxy a day. Released her to a "skilled" nursing facility but Calif. State law prohibits administering more than 10 liters of Oxy per day to any patient NOT in an actual hospital so she fell right off the cliff and may not recover.

She has multiple insurance coverages: Medicare and federal TriCare but all now worthless.

Shame you can't just give the drug to them -- a whole buck and change worth -- but I suppose there are laws against that.
