Globally the high tech semiconductor LEDs and the IC circuits are generally made in America or Taiwan. The parts from Taiwan are shipped to China or Thailand for assembly. That's the route for most big name products like GE or Philips, like 3-way bulbs. The American made fluorescent replacements I bought, hyperikon.com are assembled in California for $7.45 a tube. - amazon.com There's a brand made in Troy Michigan Togg-LED which is bizarrely more costly at $21.21 per tube. I can't imagine that surviving. - amazon.com This super-bright non-dimmable item in the laundry room puts out 250 watts of lumens for 30 watts is a Miami based manufacturer. Virtually all LEDs now use phosphors to provide more spectrum for better color resolution. Dimmable 150 watt equivalent LEDs like this new item from SANSI is a huge advance, at least in price. Amazon had these new items from China on special for $22 each. - amazon.com - Only an 80 CRI out of 100 for color rendering, but for a bright dimmable at this price point it's impressive. The plastic diffuser is far more effective than you'd expect from the shape of the bulb.
