The last two rate hikes have been wildly bullish for gold. I was puzzled why, but this week ran across a public post by Stewart Thompson in which he talked about how WITHOUT a rate hike, gold is dead to this world, and WITH a hike, monetary velocity can increase and help money flow into gold (partly from coming out of bonds).

This was the first time I heard what appeared to me anyway to be a reasonable explanation, and it 'backtested' well to the era of ZIRP.

Note also how bullish he is on bank stocks for the same reason. And since I think the fake payroll number yesterday is to make the rate hike a slam dunk, I'm now wildly bullish too! -g-
