So, I suppose I don't really have any idea where you stand on this.

The public can choose non-profit health care, but you are not going to get the private investment you got when seeking a profit motive. If you want to retain profits in suppliers to the health care service industry, then it is something else.

I will tell you that you have it ass backwards on financing of research. Government does a great deal of basic research which it should be doing. But to bring a market to drug almost always requires private financing because of the vast some of money required. At some point, the university hands the concept for a new molecule off to places with the capital backing to make it happen. That is necessary.
