I think that affirmative action laws are race-designated. They are not written as simple "minorities" get preference. They are written to benefit black people, and also "hispanics."

If they were not racially defined, Asians would be able to take advantage of being a "minority." In general they are shown to be the most intelligent race, and they certainly excel in education and in professional success - but they do not get affirmative action help (that I ever heard of).....
