It doesn't have anything to do with being open-minded. It has to do with me considering the issue and coming to a conclusion. If an argument can be made, or fact can be shown that alters my opinion, I am certainly willing to consider it. I do not want to be wrong about anything I post. I am sure I am wrong a lot of times, but I try not to be. So let's start with the list: Abortion: that is a dilemma and I've made an existential decision to support the majority of women who want to keep it legal. Income inequality: I believe that society has the ultimate legal authority. And I also believe that compassion is the foundation for all civilization. So when a society wants to exhibit compassion with regard to helping the poor, I think that is the right thing to do. I am open to an argument to the contrary. Good luck. LGBT rights: those are simple civil rights. How can one not be in favor of that? Where's the argument against it? Voter ID laws: everybody and their mother knows that the voter ID laws that have been enacted in the South have been simply to repress the vote. That is common knowledge. Immigration: I have stayed out of that one, as I see it, it is a difficult problem and one that I have made the decision should be turned over to the millennial's to decide how they want their society to function. I think I'm too old to understand the complexity of that issue. Religion: Charles Pierce the great philosopher once said we are in three states of belief. Belief, doubt, disbelief. He said you can't help being in whatever state you're in In my case, I am in a state of disbelief. Now if God comes down to my front porch, sits down has a talk with me, I am open to changing my mind. Or if we find some golden tablets somewhere that we can identify as being books of God, I am open to changing my mind. And let me tell you if I change my mind and decide there is a God, you will see me at church every Sunday morning and living the most pious life-lol * Income equality * Government Benefits / Size of Government * LGBT rights * Voter ID laws * Immigration * Religion
