...corporate America has already done this by marking up items way above their expected retail price and then saying, here, have it at a nice discount.
I wonder if any of them do that as a result of the lessons learned from Nixon's price freeze?

I don't know what you are thinking regarding not taxing short profits. This looks like an opportunity for powerful wealth in the finance industry to destroy smaller companies and then walk away from the rubble with untaxed profits. I see that as very bad policy.
