Hypocrisy alert: <<my abhorrence for living organism exploitation >> Milk, cheese, butter, eggs, wool, all from exploited living things. Delicious fried fish, steak, roast fowl, and liver pate are not made from found carrion.

As far as human living organisms are concerned, we are mere chattels of the political system in which we are each held captive, exploited and ruled by totalitarians who have no bounds other than what their democratic gang of victors set on them. Outright slavery is easily doable with democracy and as state serfs, we are only one step up from that. Military conscription was a fact in my youth and that is slavery without doubt.

Tradable Citizenship would be another level of freedom with the state literally owned by the individuals who, if they dislike electoral outcomes could sell their share to the highest bidder and decamp for somewhere better. Competition for good people would soon lead to improved behaviour by countries remaining in atavistic dog eat dog mode.
