Being retired, he's a civilian. And you want civilians disarmed.

Nevada Concealed Carrier Stops Vehicle Burglars

Posted at 9:06 am on March 16, 2017 by Beth Baumann

Last week, a young man only identified as “Ryan,” helped police officers in Cottonwood Heights, Nevada locate robbers who were responsible for a number of vehicle burglaries.

At 4a.m., Ryan heard loud noises outside of his home. He saw a number of interior car lights on. He called 9-1-1 and decided to investigate while deputies were en route.

“A homeowner was awakened by a noise in his driveway, walked out and saw two guys burglarizing his vehicle, confronted them with his weapon, and held them at bay,” Chief Robby Russo of the Cottonwood Heights Police told FOX 13. “The bad guys threatened to call the police on him, and he said, ‘That’s great, I already called them’ and just then the officer is driving down the street–they take off running.”

One suspect was taken into custody once officers arrived on scene. His accomplice got away but police say they know who he is. They anticipate the accomplices arrest in the near future.

“I’m happy to help, you know, and like I say I’ll do it again: I don’t like liars or thieves,” Ryan, a concealed carry permit holder, told FOX 13.

The suspect’s car was taken into custody as well. It had a number of stolen items from nearby neighbors.

Violent Home Intruder Picks on the Wrong Mama in Maine

Posted at 11:06 am on March 16, 2017 by Jenn Jacques

A violent home intruder was finally stopped Sunday night after the elderly homeowner’s son came to her defense.

Authorities said the incident started just after 7 p.m. at a home on Lyons Road in Sidney, Maine.

Audrey Hewett, 84, told Kennebec County Sheriff’s deputies a man knocked on her door and asked to use the phone. She told him to go next door, but the man forced his way into the home, officials said.

Hewett locked herself in her bedroom and called her son, 47-year-old Eric Hewett, who lives next door, officials said.

Hewett’s son confronted the suspect when he arrived, but the man hit him in the head. The attack continued until Eric Hewett shot the suspect in the upper chest, according to sheriff’s deputies.

Police said Eric Hewett was transported to an Augusta hospital for his head injury, and his mother was not harmed in the incident.

The suspect, Dreaquan Foster of Providence, RI, was hospitalized for his gunshot wound but is expected to survive to face charges for his crime.

HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -Two men were fatally shot in Henderson County during a home invasion and attempted robbery, and they have been identified Monday afternoon.

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse released the names of the two deceased men shot Sunday by a resident during a home invasion and aggravated robbery.

The deceased were Steven Kelley, 49, of Winona; and Cecil Spain, 31, of Grand Saline. Hillhouse said that the two men posed as customers looking to purchase a dog from a man and woman at their Athens-area residence. The couple was physically restrained by the two, Hillhouse said, and suffered minor injuries during the home invasion. Both deceased men were armed with handguns during the home invasion, he said.

Hillhouse said the deceased were identified with the assistance of the Mesquite Police Department, Crime Scene Unit’s fingerprint analyst Detective Aaron Martin. The ongoing case is being investigated by the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, Henderson County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers.

Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse said Monday that the men were shot Sunday afternoon on Hopson Drive in the Athens area.

“It was a home invasion and attempted robbery that went very bad,” Hillhouse said.

The sheriff described the incident Monday, saying that a man and a woman were home at the time of the incident. Both received minor injuries.

The two own a home-based company and Hillhouse said the suspects showed up, initially acting as if they were potential customers. An altercation later followed and the two men were shot.

The sheriff declined to provide specifics on the shooting and said the identities of the suspects may be released later in the day.

Hillhouse confirmed that the two suspects were both armed with handguns, and said at this time it appears as if the residents were defending themselves.

The sheriff’s office, Henderson County District Attorney’s Office, and the Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.

Henderson County Pct 4 Justice of the Peace Milton Adams conducted an inquest at the scene and ordered the deceased to be sent to American Forensics for an autopsy. District Judge Scott McKee also issued a search warrant for the residence.

Seems every few days I can post several stories of armed citizens successfully defending themselves from criminals. In today's news stories, a total of five criminals were brought to justice. Two criminals brought before the final bar of justice, one wounded, and two more criminals caught without having to be shot.
