Simply encase the wall with a series Rolled barbed wire carrying 100,000 volts which could electrocute. And set off an alarm system as to location of attempted penetration. Helicopter enforcement agents using Track & attack dogs can be there long before the offenders are out of sight. Rolled wire and sensors work well at Max security prisons.

Once the wall is built it provides for less territory to watch as many places equipment needed to break through the wall would have to be carried over many miles of desert just to get to the border. Some of those routes are now used only because offenders can travel light. Many trying to use those remote trails, even without carrying any load die from dehydration.

In my youth I stressed freedom, and in my old age I stress order. I have made the great discovery that liberty is a product of order.

Will Durant

Immigration, is one issue I don't think I've ever posted on. I simply don't have any good answers in my head. If one looks at the world, they can see that the countries that have democracies and order, are faring much better than the ones that do not have democracies and order.

The same is true for education. The countries where the people are well-educated do demonstrably better than the countries where the people are not well educated.

But what we also see about the human species is that it is very tribal and conforming and the tribalism and conformity usually transcends logic and reason and even compassion and empathy.

And then throw all of this into an equation where the earth is getting greatly overpopulated and enduring pervasive pollution like acidic oceans, mercury in our food, hidden radiation, and plastic and garbage in the ocean, pervasive pollution of ground water, destruction of rain forests, and a very fast heating up of the atmosphere with unknown consequences and difficult feedback loops to quantify.

I also do not see how we escape a nuclear war somewhere in the world in the not-too-distant future. Too many countries have too many nuclear weapons with too few intellectual and psychological safeguards.

At the very least I think it's going to be difficult for the human species going forward not to undergo some sort of great disaster.
