Dear Jane: I'll tell you the one where I really learned the hard way. There was this company in the early eighties called Dynasty Resources. Thet got a contract from the State of California to provide solar heat to whole communities. There was this reputable president Dick Mangiarelli, Col in the Army Reserve ect. Well I thought it was the best thing since canned apples..and put my entire portfolio into that one stock. My rationale was that it was all "winnings" that I was investing. I had had some incredible years. Bought American Solar King for $5.00 and saw it go to $100.00 a share. Bought American Medident at 50 cents sold at $5.50. and several others. Well guess who financed the deal of Dynasty Resources.. ever heard of Lincoln Savings and loan and I think Charles Keating. At any rate it got caught up in all the turmoil of the savings and loan mess and the state legislature dropped the whole project like a hot potatoe. I lost six figurers.. When the smoke had cleared I felt like I had the biggest hangover a person could endure. It felt like a great party that went until dawn and abruptly ended. The Lord in His mercy saw me through it. It was one of the best things that has ever happened to me in a negative sense. I just thank Him he sobered me up, I don't mean that from alcohol but from the highs and lows I was getting from gambling in the market. Also, I shutter to think what would have happened if Dynasty Resources would have made me a multimillionaire. It would have come as a blessing at the wrong time in my life. I really believe, dire consequences would have overcome me..When I say I trust the Lord I really do, a little personal flaw of mine causes me to question Him more than I should, but in due time He always answers my questions...
