As far as the drug issue... legalize everything.

Problem solved.

Unrestricted drug use caused the fall of the Chinese Empire. Only after an all out attack on drugs like heroin and opium were they able to right the country again.

As far as the illegals crossing the border. They won't go to packing equipment heavy over 10 to 50 miles of open desert then take an hour of working with air or electric jackhammers, big cement concrete saws and gas cutting torches to tunnel through when they know the wall is patrolled 24/7.

If you want to see what happens when people who decide to put up resistance. When they are caught illegally crossing the border into the US. Just take a drive west from Tuscon along Highway 86 to Gila bend.

Or go to Douglas AZ then take the Geronimo Trail Visit the Slaughter Ranch, Proceed along Geronimo. Take a few border spurs like Guadalupe canyon road. or drive some of the border roads as you drive along highway 90 in Texas. Where I drove around exploring as I was making my way south last fall and winter.

The side roads are filled with crosses erected where deaths have occurred from dehydration & exhaustion . Or have been shot not obeying Law enforcement. Majority I expect were killed. Aggression toward a Border agent is like attacking a police officer. The most likely outcome is you will get shot and die.

We saw groups of 10 to 50 captured by border patrol sitting in the heat waiting for a bus or transportation to take them away. There is little shade or cover to hide in those areas. I would suggest take extra gas with you. the roads go for miles and miles and there is no services anywhere till you make your way back out.
Be prepared to be stopped and questioned by the patrol officers as to your reason for being in the area. I guess it is common for the human traffick business to pick up the illegals and sprint them out of the danger zones for a fee.

Majority of the crossing trails stem from Mexico's highway 2 along the border. In such desolate uninhabitable territory it makes me wonder if the highway was put there for the purpose of assisting the drug and illegal immigrant business. The road could have been built with less far less cost in easier terrain, by staying a bit further south, till they arrived where the border crossings are.

Being that illegal immigration has been such an issue. I took the time this winter to try and see and understand the reason it has not been controlled. What you read in a paper is not the reality of the situation.
There are places where Trump's wall will all but curtail it. They cannot bring the equipment necessary with them on foot to breach the wall before discovered by patrols in those open desert spaces. You can see for ten miles from a low flying chopper are equipped with heat sensing and night vision technology.
The wall will take care of vast sections leaving far less to require constant alert. Having the effect of a robot in a work place. Frees up personal for other needs.

Any one who dosn't think it will have a positive effect has not taken the time to travel and see the border close up, where it all takes place. I have spent over two months doing just that from Yuma to Del Rio TX since November.
Lots of that country is just to hot, rugged and to far without water to allow for any significant crossing in numbers. I doubt they could pack sufficient food and drink. Totally dry rock/sand, venomous snake and scorpion infested vacant badlands. It would take a person with exceptional survival and navigation skills.

Will it stop it 100% ? Of course not but the deterrence factor will be over 75% That alone is worth it.
No one who is not a US citizen has the right to simply Come, Go and Exploit benefits without the permission of it's people.
If they do then China had full right to annex Tibet or Russia to take Crimea. Perhaps the US should simply kill Castro and scoop Cuba with it's off shore oil. Or annex Canada with it's vast rich resource base of Oil & Gas, Gold, Uranium and Diamonds.
