I wonder how many people really don't want to work and use free health insurance as further incentive to not work? Maybe it is a lot. I don't know... There will always be some of them...

But I am more concerned about low income (and moderate income) workers who DO work and can't afford health insurance. They are fulfilling their responsibility to society and should not be left hung out to dry.

I am not a fan of Obamacare that forces people to buy health insurance. I think we should have single payer like ALL the other advanced countries in the world.

I wonder how many people know about our Oregon Health Plan that prioritizes over 600 medical ailments in terms of *bang for the buck* and depending on budgets, and makes only those (within the current budget) available to low income people. It too has it's problems, but it may be a clue as to how to decide which treatments should be universally made available. ALL is probably too many.

Re: Is it fair for high income people to pay more for Medicare... I think it can be argued both ways. High income people who get paid a lot more money per hour than poor people benefit a lot more in nearly every way. In certain ways, they owe society more for benefitting more. This is noblesse oblige. The opposite is like the rich guy at church complaining that it is not fair that his tithe is so much bigger than the poor guy's. I don't think God is amused...
