Charles, CompUSA news is hot because the previous comment by CompUSA could've been just as much a bone tossed to Apple for paying for all that nice shelving and banners. Comp could've given Apple credit for helping sales if Apple's pct. had gone from 3% to 5%, which is what I might've expected.

But finding out that sales were 14%, which is way above Apple's current market share, is outrageous. It seems to indicate that if you promote Macs correctly and have knowledgeable salespeople, they will sell.

Gross profits? What's that they just said on CNBC? Is Apple reversing some earlier charges as some of us speculated?

Edit--Jobs is the man! What a clever fellow. A pre-earnings positive announcement. He tossed all the speculators out the window who don't give a damn about Apple or have optimism about the earnings. (And a few of the regulars, sorry Eric.) And now this. And what next, a surprise CEO?

However, revenues are lower than I dreamed possible. Sounds like an operational loss for sure. Sucks.

I don't understand the thinking here about old systems not selling. If someone was going to buy one of them but decides on a G3 instead, then isn't that still a sale?
