(Nasdaq: BORL - news) and Visigenic Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: VSGN - news) today announced that the Federal Trade Commission has granted early termination of the 30-day waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act with respect to the proposed acquisition of Visigenic by Borland. The companies are therefore eligible under the Act to proceed with the acquisition, subject to approval by the stockholders of both Borland and Visigenic, and the satisfaction of other customary conditions. Each company will hold a special meeting of its stockholders to seek approval of the transaction. The meetings are expected to take place in February 1998.
