I think false equivalency is mostly promoted by TV and radio MSM hopes to keep advertisers happy. The "reporting" must APPEAR balanced, like a balance scale, so viewers consuming advertiser's products are not activated.

I hate it when CNN (and PBS/NPR, who care about fatcat funders) refer to "partisan bickering" every time the Democrats stand up for principles against the modern uber power grab from the modern powerful crackpot-as-normal right. Great examples are reacting to the poisoning of the ACA, and protesting the ugly treatment of moderate Merrick Garland.

You can bet the Republicans will blame McConnell's use of the nuclear option for SCOTUS -- on the Democrats and left. They are being sooooooooo partisan and obstructive, right??????

Its really gotten insane - reminiscent of East Germany and the Soviet Union where the middle was an extreme and the media was an extension of the state.

Maybe we need a "Radio Free America" for the USA. Vice news and some of the print media comes closest to real journalism.

Oh, I totally agree (D)'s are less crooked than (R)'s. But, that doesn't mean (D)'s are the party of Jesus and (R)'s are the party of Satan. Not even close. (D)'s have to fund their re-elections just like (R)'s, and have the special interest groups THEY suck up too, such as Wall Street, public sector unions and the tech sector.
