did you hear the CEO of etrade on CNBC this morning. When asked about what brokers could do to compete with the online services, he told them to find another line of work. I'd like to see one of my ex-brokers behind a cashier stand. Poetic justice I say, all those brokers ringing up sales for us nouveau rich cyberslobs...

Powerful New Configurations Target Professional Customers in Design &
Publishing

MACWORLD/EXPO, SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer, Inc.
(Nasdaq: AAPL) today introduced new build-to-order options for Power
Macintosh(R) G3, delivering faster storage, networking, and graphics
performance to Apple's professional customers. The new configurations include
10/100Base-Tx Fast Ethernet, Ultra/Wide SCSI Drives and a 2D/3D graphics
acceleration card.
Introduced last November, Apple's Power Macintosh G3 systems have been the
most successful hardware product launch to date, with 133,000 shipped in less
than two months. Power Macintosh G3's are the first Apple(R) systems that
offer build-to-order from the on-line Apple Store ( apple.com ).
This means Macintosh(R) users can add memory, hard disk space and multimedia
options to their Power Macintosh G3 system over the Internet.
"The Power Macintosh G3 is Apple's hottest selling Mac ever," said Philip
Schiller, vice president, product marketing, Apple Computer Inc. "Today we
are expanding its appeal even more, with powerful new options for our
professional customers in the design and publishing markets."
Today's announcements offer high performance add-ons for Power Macintosh
G3 Minitower systems. The Ethernet card is also available as an add-on to
Power Macintosh G3 Desktop systems. The options are available in USA and
include:

* 10/100Base-Tx Fast Ethernet Card
Price -- $100 as add-on to build-to-order Power Macintosh G3.
* 4GB 7200RPM Hard Drive and Ultra/Wide SCSI Card
Price -- $225 as add-on to build-to-order Power Macintosh G3 (replacing
standard 6GB EIDE Drive).
* 9GB 7200RPM Hard Drive and Ultra/Wide SCSI Card
Price -- $675 as add-on to build-to-order Power Macintosh G3 (replacing
standard 6GB EIDE Drive).
* 128-bit 2D/3D Graphics Card with 8MB of EDO VRAM
Price -- $500 as add-on to build-to-order Power Macintosh G3.

Apple is also offering a new Power Macintosh G3 configuration, available
through Apple Authorized Resellers.

* Power Macintosh G3 Minitower 266/512K Level 2 Cache; 128MB SDRAM; 4GB
7200RPM Ultra/Wide SCSI Drive; 6MB SGRAM; 24xCD; 128-bit 2D/3D Graphics Card;
10/100Base-Tx Fast Ethernet Card; Estimated Retail Price -- $4199.
