GZ and All The Kitco Gold Bug world is an odd site....filled with catastrophic news and focussed on the perceived crumbling of our financial systems and the inevitable return to hard currencies. Soros and Friedman aptly point out the strengths of our monitary systems and there failures...if the Elliot Waves, Millenium Watchers and Big Kahuna followers are correct 1998 is going to be a year to remember. The New Age systems that are in place today will continue to favor the stronge currencies and the stronge markets. They will allow for the continued flow of capital into all stronge areas and will exit all weak areas even faster. Yes, our financial markets are built on sand and movments are very abrupt. Being on the right side of those movements is very important and probably has a lot to do with LUCK and attention. But this hudge push from the early 80's will continue... For those reasons presented by Soros and Friedman. Also because of the mechanisms that are controling our financial markets and the growing sophistication in their use. But we are in a cycle and cycles have very well defined characteristics I think it will take a Defining Event to produce any significant topping action for these 1998 markets.... What ever that might be...? Who knows we maybe watching it unfold in Asia..? But are there any clear determinants that would alter prosperity, any reason why the USA will not continue to carry the world as it enters another Millenium......Not At All. However, remembering the Elliot Waves and Big Kahuna Theories should remind us that this is still a cycle with all the familiar characteristics and we should be nimble and attentive. So I vote for continued prosperous markets well into the new Millienium That is of course...without the Defining Event. We Shall See Chip
