When visiting my fiance I used to park it on the hill at her apartment complex in cold weather because I knew it would not start, so a roll down the hill and popping the clutch with the trans in 1st would do the trick. Raining? The headlights would dim when I turned on the wipers and at night I could see sparks under the dash!

I can relate well... Great memories.

My dad, who was a right-wing jerk and sold cars for a living most of his life, did me one good favor. When I quit my factory job at a paper bag plant in Emeryville California and decided to go to college I had a 55 Thunderbird.

I sold the Thunderbird and my dad sold me a really nice green Volkswagen for $1300. I drove that thing all the way through college and never had a bit of trouble with it. After college when I was ready to move on, I traded it to my 'grass" guy for 3 kg of "grass-lol" which I busted up into 105 "lids" which I sold for $10 a lid.

So I got over $1,000 back. I loved that Volkswagen and had a couple more after that. The VW was the first car in America that didn't just fall apart.

Grass was the only name we used and only the straight dudes used the term pot.
