Well commenting on a Charting term for pattern (not an English lesson) a pattern is a regular occurrence of data and what you were doing was akin to drawing a straight line through a single point



My look at 5 years of monthly SPY data shows three perfect dojis and another 6 instances which were pretty close to dojis but are very small spinning tops.

Your doji prediction at the end of March did not pan out as it turned into a true spinning top. Predicting a candle before it has ended its time period is fraught with uncertainty.

As you can see the direction of the values following dojis or near dojis are pretty variable but most do not seem to indicate a pattern of long term decline... the only one that showed significant decline appears to be the one you selected
