According to Compaq's web page, the 4550 is THE ONLY Presario model that has a Zip. There are 5 models of Presario ranging from $799 to $1999, and the only one that has a Zip is the $1299 one. This indicates its still-option status--definitely not a standard. If the more expensive models were to also include it, then one could make the assumption that it was indeed making inroads all across the Compaq line-- but it isn't.

However, notice that the $1799 and $1999 models have DVD built in. This is the device that is making strong inroads into less expensive models--and the changeover from DVD_ROM to RAM is going to be swift and brutal for IOM.
