One of the primary problems with old scientists in this day and age is that knowledge and information is evolving so fast, often times the old scientists don't keep up or get stuck in old ways of thinking.

That's what happened with Einstein. By the time he hit his 30s and started studying the unified field theory he was all washed up and the young scientist just moved right ahead of him and stayed ahead of him for the rest of his life. He never did much after that.

The fresh young scientists are smart as hell because they have so much knowledge to draw from and so much computer power to work stuff out.

When I was talking about Creighton being foolish, I can't remember the specifics but he had a lot of crazy ideas and I think he was a hard-core right-winger and may have been a racist. Anyway many years ago when I read a review of him I felt about him the way I feel about Ayn Rand.
