Where people get confused is when discussing "selfishness" and "humanity". These are not as clear as you would think.

Bernie Sanders thinks it is a humanistic act to put more people on Medicare and social Security. But people who understand the truth realize that that is an entirely selfish act, since these programs compromise the economic futures of kids and grandkids, who don't even know this decision is being made for them.

Do you see how your misunderstanding can sometimes lead to results that are 180 degrees away from the intended ones?

Do you think Nancy Reagan promoted the war on drugs out of bad intentions? Of course not. It was simply not understanding the unintended consequences of the action.

At some point you need to come to see that most people, most politicians are not evil. They simply have different views than you do, and sometimes, even a lot of the time, people who disagree with you have it correct.
