>>Sony HiFi is perfect for today's low-priced machines. There are only two bays in these machines. One bay is for CD (or DVD), and where the floppy went will now go the Sony HiFi.<<

Actually, Rocky, only the $799 Compaq has no available spot for a Zip drive. The very next model up, at $1,099 does.

So if someone has bought the $799 Compaq, they will have to get an external Zip drive.

Meanwhile, I don't know where you get the idea that "Excel files are typically less than 100k." I have often seen financial analysts work with Excel files in the multi-megabyte range.

Rocky.

The problem of LS-120 is poor marketing (not widely available initially and not very attractive pricing.) Sony already has good market share in HiFi area <g> ...about HiFD, it has all the technical elements to be a huge success but we still don't know how will it market. So no one know the result will be.

Sony does have excellent reputation and good relationship to its customer as a OEM manufacturer but their marketing imo is not that great. As a computer user, I will prefer HiFD over Zip and LS-120.
