I am sure there were a few exceptions where women gained power, but I am also sure they were very rare and caused by unusual circumstances. Probably less than 1%, so nothing more than oddities. If one wants to understand human cultural evolution and the ingredients for modern civilized societies they don't look at outliars, they look at the majority of societies, the primary cause and effect of those societies, which was my point. If you look around the world you see the more education and the less religion, the more women's rights you will see, democracy and general health and welfare of a society. The Nordic countries are the prime example. Which tells us educated mankind does a better job of instilling civil rights, gender equality , ethics and democracy than religion, which means people can do better creating moral authority than religion if they are educated. <<And of course it was cultural, but the culture had to be educated to give rights to women. Historically, there have been matriarchal societies in cultures without educational systems or intellectual proclivities
