The new age of Ayn Rand: how she won over Trump and Silicon Valley Her novel The Fountainhead is one of the few works of fiction that Donald Trump likes and she has long been the darling of the US right. But only now do her devotees hold sway around the world

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - you may know that your society is doomed." Ayn Rand

You know it was necessary to do something different though, right? Maybe Trump will not accomplish what many of us would like. But we had to at least try someone who might be able to make meaningful changes. It is a long shot to make any difference at all.

But we've tried traditional Rs & Ds and they have all failed miserably. So, pulling the nation out of this mess is pretty unlikely at this point. Trump seems to me to be doing some good things.

I wasn't over here that much during the election so I didn't see what your opposition is (and I don't expect you to repeat it, I'm sure there are multiple points). I just kind of feel like we don't have much to lose at this point.
