Except for Secret Service protection, Congressional retirement
might cost more than Presidential retirement.
If I recall, a Senator gets about $1M/yr retirement. That
might include benes like free postage, office expenses, etc.

How many retired Senators are there? Think about my
former Senator, Bill Bradley. Retired for decades.
