Carter Page has been an FBI surveillance target since he became a Russian asset, long before Trump added Carter Page to his "list of advisors".

Trump now claims he's never even met Carter Page.

Wait for it . . .

We now know the new Trump administration has the FBI monitoring Carter Page, Mike Flynn and other Russian operatives who have has tangential relationships with the Trump administration when ever they communicate with Igor Sechin, Vladimir Putin and 54 other close associates of Vladimir Putin. The FBI continues to investigate the full extent of Flynn's violations Federal law.

The Trump FBI monitors all of these conversations under FISA Warrants, even if people Trump knows calls these leading Putin associates from Mar-a-Lago, Trump Tower or the White House, or a hidey-hole in Iraq or Syria.

Trump also may be backing away even from his more colorful advisor Steve Bannon who may have been caught up in conspiracies with the Putin government.

"I like Steve, but you have to remember he was not involved in my campaign until very late. I am my own strategist," Trump told the New York Post. Trump told another member of the White House, "The problem is Steve Bannon is just not a team player."

In denying a prior relationship Trump may be walking a thin line. When Trump announced the hiring of Bannon and adviser Kellyanne Conway as part of the Trump campaign on Aug. 17, 2016. He said, "I have known Steve and Kellyanne both for many years. They are extremely capable, highly qualified people who love to win and know how to win," Trump said.
