Heinous criminals are enemies of the state and society. They are not misunderstood, any educated person gets that. I don't believe in forced choices but that is where this issue has been allowed to lie. tsk We agree they should be removed from society, but how? First let's look at the statistics. There are approximately 1.6 million people in state and federal prisons. About 3.54% of these could be classified as heinous criminals. That amounts to a current population of 56,640 incarcerated heinous criminals. According to California the cost of executing a criminal is 300 million dollars. Cost of executing all 56k+ would be $16,992,000,000,000.00 According to California the cost of housing heinous criminals on death row is 175,000 dollars per year. If heinous inmates live on death row for life with an average starting age of 20 and death at 70 the cost would be $4,956,000,000,000.00 Hey, it turns out the cost is less to house them for a life time but are either of these figures acceptable? The moral argument against ending their life is false. It is not a matter of vengeance it is a matter of resolution which reconciles society with its justice system and societal members with one another. Why is there no discussion about alternatives?

The only type of person who would not consider the moral issue is a sociopath. How can you be OK with putting to death children or people who do not know what they did? Without morality, what kind of society do you think we would have? I can take it or leave it. Whether someone was too stupid to understand the taking of a life is immaterial. We already know that liberals will manipulate these facts as required. For me it is a matter of expediency. And the reality is the death sentence in the US is not very efficient. I understand the moral argument for those who believe it. For me, it is about effectiveness.
