Steve, this entire country has been moving left since the Declaration of Independence. Just think of how far left the country has moved since the turn of the last century. In fact the entire human species has been moving left since we settled down and started growing our food and domesticating animals 12 to 15,000 years ago. The only time the human species does not move left is when countervailing barbarian forces like dictators, tribal chiefs and theocracies prevented us from moving left. It is normal for the human species to move left, because moving left simply means looking forward and moving right means looking backward. That's what always amazes me is that conservatives don't seem to understand they are trying to live in the past totally oblivious to the fact that the future is where civilization lies, not in the past.
