First they have to damage the reef when they're cementing the permanent mooring in. Then there has to be slack in the chain due to wave action and tides, so the chain will at times drag over the coral and damage it.

Wow, you sure don't seem to know anything about anchoring boats!

Yup, I use about 3 to 1 scope when I anchor with pure chain rode.

We set anchors in the sandy areas between coral heads.

Allowing a lot of "swing room".

You need to get out on the water and do some personal learning!
