My burn-down-evil-America friends label me the lowest term they can find...

"Neoliberal."

Worse than "conservative."

And they will not listen to any evidence that contradicts them, ever.

Its still the mid 20th century to them, J Edgar Hoover and George Wallace.

Like Putin and Pussy Riot, they don't get the appeal of Jon Stewart, or even pop superstars like Beyonce. Or treaties and trade pacts to the south or east.

Many more good things came from the far left than the far right however - we need a blend of the best of socialism mixed with the best parts of capitalism.

Quality health care, research, education, and justice for all, for example. They should pay well on merit, but not be private profit based.

Well regulated, competitive, not oligopoly, level playing field capitalism works for food, TVs, cars and computers. It is better when the workers are part owners, I believe.

The (at the time) far left was 100% correct and brave regarding civil rights in the early 1960's south. As they got old, they seemed to stop learning.
